Haverford seems like it'd be a great school... for some people. I don't think I'm one of those people, unfortunately. There were some things I thought were really cool about Haverford, however.
Pros:
Proximity to Philadelphia. Philadelphia is a really cool city and it's really big so everything that might be missing from Haverford can easily be found in Philly. I can easily imagine getting bored at Haverford, so I feel like if I went there I'd be heading to Philadelphia all the time.
Haverford has a good reputation for being a school with good academics.
Haverford apparently gives its students a lot of freedom, which would be nice to have in college.
Cons:
I didn't think the campus was anything special. To be honest, it reminded me a lot of the community college in my town and maybe that's what turned me off about Haverford. The buildings don't seem spectacularly beautiful and a lot of the facilities seemed sub-par. I'm probably just biased because I came to Haverford right after visiting Swarthmore, which I loved. I've also seen tons of beautiful schools lately so my perception is probably a bit askew at this point.
The town of Haverford seems like a pretty boring place to be. Of course, it's super close to Philadelphia so I'm sure it's not unbearable to be a Haverford student.
Pictures:
Okay, there are parts of campus that are pretty.
Overall:
I wasn't totally impressed with Haverford. It's close to a big city, which is cool, and it has great academics. But I've seen so many great schools this week that Haverford just seemed average.
